approx. 18 metres east
of central block of
Atlas Works

GV II

Gas lamp on standard. Late C19. Cast iron and sheet metal. The standard has
an octagonal lower part with recessed panels, moulded base and waist,
approximately one metre high, and a reeded and tapering upper stem with acanthus
design at the neck. 2 ladder arms. 'The Thames Bank Iron Company, London' in
raised letters at the base. The lamp is hexagonal, with a scalloped border
around its upper edge, and 2 scalloped borders around the vent above, with a
ball finial. A rare survival in exceptionally complete condition.
