House. Circa 1600, altered in early C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red plain tiles. Main range facing SE, with axial stack near right
end, full-length catslide extension to rear, with C20 internal stack in the left
flank. An early C19 wing extends forward at the right end, with an external
stack at the gable end, and a partly rendered brick catslide extension to the
left. 2 storeys. The front elevation of the original range has on the ground
floor one C19 horizontal sash of 24 lights and one early C19 sash of 16 lights,
and on the first floor one C19/20 casement and one C18 3-light casement with
rectangular leading and an inserted C19 wooden casement. Flush 4-panel door,
the upper panels glazed, in lean-to porch in S angle. The NE elevation has on
the ground floor one C20 casement, and one mid-C19 sash of long vertical panes
with marginal lights and handmade glass, and on the first floor 2 mid-C19 sashes
of 6 lights and one of 4 lights, with handmade glass. Central 5-panel door, the
top 3 panels glazed, with mid-C19 moulded flat canopy on scrolled brackets, and
2 stone steps. The main block is of good quality timber framing. The early C19
staircase has slender straight balusters, and a narrow handrail with spiral
termination at the newel.
