Lodge cottage. Circa 1840. Gault brick in Flemish bond, roofed with slate.
L-plan, with main elevations to NE (to access road to Ashford Lodge) and to NW
(to Sudbury Road). One storey. The right end of the NE elevation projects to
form a splayed bay, with a central 4-panel door and an original 2-light casement
in each splay. One original 3-light casement to left of it. The NW elevation
has one original casement of 3 lights and one of 2 lights. All the casements
are divided by a single horizontal glazing bar above centre. 3 projecting
courses of brickwork below long overhanging eaves with flat brackets, hipped
roof of shallow pitch. 3 octagonal shafts. The SE elevation (towards Ashford
Lodge) has a pedimented gable, corner pilasters, and 3 blind recesses with
semi-circular heads.
