5/164 Letche's Farmhouse

House. Late C16, altered in C19. Timber framed, mainly clad with red brick in
stretcher bond, some plaster, roofed with machine-made red plain tiles. Main
range facing S (gable end to road) comprising 3 late C16 bays and remains of
earlier building at left end. Axial stack. C19 rear wing, and single-storey
lean-to extension in-left rear angle. 2 storeys. 3-window range of C19
casements each with 4 small top-hung panes over the 2 main lights, in segmental
arches. Off-centre 6-panel door, with 4 panels glazed, in recessed porch. Near
left end, doorway blocked to form C20 casement. Roof hipped at left end only.
Left end and rear lean-to plastered, all the rest brick-clad in C19. Jowled
posts. Original side-purlin roof with arched wind-bracing. Early C19
staircase.
