Wrongly shown on OS map as Rectory. House. Early C19, altered in later C19 and
C20. Gault brick in Flemish bond, roofed with slate. Double range plan facing
SE, with 2 internal stacks in left return and one in right return, in rear
range. C20 single-storey bay to left. To right, C20 2-storey extension,
probably an alteration of an original single-storey service wing, linking house
to square kitchen with pyramidal roof. 2 storeys and cellar. 3-window range of
original sashes of 12 lights with flat arches of gauged brick and crown glass.
Central 4-panel door, the upper panels glazed, in original moulded doorcase with
scrolls at the base of the jambs, and dentilled flat canopy on scrolled
brackets. 3 stone steps. In kitchen, one tripartite sash of 4-16-4 lights.
Hipped roof with long overhanging eaves. Plain band at first floor level. NW
(garden) elevation, 2-window range of original sashes of 16 lights, one cellar
sash of 4+8 lights and one blocked as air raid shelter. All ground floor doors
except the front door are original, with 6 panels. Folding shutters on ground
floor. Original curving stair with moulded treads, scrolled tread-ends,
rosewood handrail of oval section and stick balusters. All first-floor doors
are 4-panel.
