metres west-south-west
of stable range of
Stisted Hall

GV II

Pair of gateposts. Early C19. Cast iron. 3 metres apart, forming gateway
between vehicle approach to stable block, and present golf course. Octagonal
posts with flared capitals and squat, ogee profile finials with floral bud
terminations. Minor damage at top of octagonal shaft of W post. Overall height
1.75 metres. Probably contemporary with the formation of Stisted Hall Park,
1823-5, and designed by Henry Hakewill, the architect of Stisted Hall. Modern
wooden gate not included. See items 7/264 and 7/267.
