SP/435 Former Vicarage



Vicarage house. c 1852. Polychrome brick, plain tiled roofs. 2 storeys with attics.
High Victorian "Reformed" or "modern Gothic". Entrance front has central 2 storey
gabled porch between returned gable of garden front and set back double pile range.
Porch has gothic arched boarded doors, first floor casement, angle buttress and
polychrome patterned brick and applied timber frame in gable. Set back wing bay has
one ground floor 3-light casement under pointed gothic polychrome arch with patterned
spandrel, one first floor 3-light casement under segmental arch. Returned garden
gable with large externally expressed stack. 3 bay garden front, second pile service
wing. Possibly part of same building campaign as Church of St Alban, c 1852 to south.
