GV II

House of very complex plan. Formerly the Rectory. Probably C17 or earlier
core, but mainly C18 with C19 and C20 alterations. Timber framed with red brick
facing. Hipped red tiled roofs. 2 storeys and attics. The present entrance
is now to the North, and has an C18 4 panel door and fanlight over and C20
hipped, red tiled porch with timber supports. Broken ranges of C19/C20 vertical
sliding sash windows. The main South front is of 5 bays, the centre bay
breaking forward. Parapet with band under. 5 range small paned, vertical
sliding sash window with gauged brick arches. 3 symetrically placed, segmental
head dormers with small paned sliding sashes. Stone coping to parapet and
parapet verge. Central, fine pedimented door surround with pilasters, moulded
frieze and dentils to pediment soffits. Door with glazed margin window to upper
half. To the left is a hipped bay with French windows and sidelights. To the
right is a 4 bay range terminating in a hipped crosswing. 4 red brick chimney
stacks to main ranges. Good C18 internal features.
