GV II

Aisled barn, early C14. Timber framed, weatherboarded, roofed with red clay
pantiles. Originally 3 bays aligned approx. N-S. Midstrey added to E, and
one extra bay to N, dates uncertain. Jowled arcade posts, arched braces of
wide section to arcade plates and to straight tiebeams. Passing braces tenoned
to tiebeams, some tenoned to wallposts, some truncated. Splayed scarfs with
undersquinted butts and 8 face-pegs in arcade plates, later strengthened by
2 forelocks in each, using the original peg-holes. One section of W wallplate
original, with similar scarf, remainder renewed. Some brickwork in E wall N
of midstrey. Roof rebuilt with queen struts, date uncertain but probably C18
or later.
