House, C15, extended in C19 and C20, now a public house. Timber framed,
roughcast rendered, roofed with slate, with ornamental bands of round-edged
slates. N-S block, single storey with attics, and 2 storey crosswing at S,
jettied to E. Axial chimney stack in N-S block at the junction. C19 W
extension to crosswing with C19 chimney stack at the junction. Flat-roofed
single storey extensions to NW, N and NE, C20. S elevation, 2 plain boarded
doors in C20 flat-roofed porches, one oriel window and one casement window on
ground floor,, 3 casement windows on first floor, all C20. Handmade red clay
tiles on E and W gables. In crosswing, some exposed timber on ground floor.
Transverse beam, plain chamfered, jointed to beam with central tenons with
housed soffits. N-S wing not examined, but the general design is consistent
with a medieval hall in this position, with some rebuilding of the roof in the
C19. RCHM 7.
