House, C17, altered in early C19. Timber framed, roughcast rendered, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays aligned approx. E-W, aspect S, and
contemporary rear wing from W bay, forming an L plan. External chimney stack
at E end, internal chimney stack behind W room on axis of rear wing. Single
storey extension beyond rear wing, with internal chimney stack at end, C19.
Lean-to extension in NE angle, originally a half-cellar. 2 storeys. C20 glazed
door under shallow pediment, early C19. 2 windows on ground floor, 3 on first
floor, all double-hung sashes of 3 lights to each sash, late C19, forming an
asymmetrical elevation. Central stair hall with early C19 stair, rail of
rosewood. Large hearth of W ground floor room has chamfered lintel with
decorative stops, C17. Rear wall of this room has been removed to extend it
into the lean-to extension. Beam over upper W room has ovolo mouldings.
Clasped purlin roof, reusing some earlier timber. The external appearance
of this house is now generally C19, some of the interior detail C17.
