House, c.1600, altered in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade
red clay tiles. 4 bays aligned approx. NW-SE, aspect SW, with axial chimney
stack in second bay from NW, but not forming a lobby=entrance. External chimney
stack on SE end. Original rear stair tower opposite internal chimney stack.
Single storey lean-to extension in E angle. 2 storeys with attics. Ground
floor, one original window of 3 lights with ovolo moulded mullions, one C20
casement window, central plain door in tiled gabled porch on round wooden posts
with square bases, C20, 2 early C19 double-hung sash windows of 16 lights.
First floor, 2 late C19 windows with horizontally sliding sashes of 12 lights, 2
early C19 double-hung sash windows of 16 lights. Pargetted in panels with
various designs, C20. Internal chimney stack has grouped diagonal shafts.
Frame partly exposed internally. Jowled storey posts. Ogee-curved tension
bracing trenched inside studs. Transverse beam immediately SE of stack plain-
chamfered with richly carved stops. Hearth on first floor with depressed arch
and moulded jambs, of brick with original plaster facing, early C17. Clasped
purlin roof.
