TL 51 NW SHEERING SAWBRIDGEWORTH ROAD

1/2 Barn approx. 10 metres
NW of Cowicks

GV II

Barn, early C17. Timber framed, mostly weatherboarded, partly plastered, roof
thatched. 4 bays aligned approx. N-S, with midstrey to W. S bay originally
partitioned off from remainder and storeyed, but now open. Roof half-hipped
at both ends. Straight bracing trenched to inside of heavy studs. Arched
braces to tiebeams. Queen strut roof, clasped purlins. Wooden threshing floor
still present, an unusual survival.
