Farmhouse, C16 and C17, extended in C18/C19. Timber framed, plastered, with
exposed framing at front only, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bay
crosswing aligned approx. NW-SE, jettied at front but underbuilt. Remainder
of hall house to SW rebuilt in C17 with central chimney stack, and continuous
NE-SW roof over front part of crosswing, to form a lobby-entrance house. Rear
part of crosswing re-roofed. External chimney stack at NE end. Stair tower
in S angle, C17. Lean-to extension to SW of stair tower, C18/C19, and porch
in angle between it and crosswing, C19. 2 storeys, 2 window range of C19/C20
casements, shafts. Chamfered beams, with step stops in crosswing, lamb's tongue
stops in SW section. Roof of crosswing originally of crownpost construction,
but wholly rebuilt above tiebeam level as clasped purlin construction. Stair to
attic has original C17 plain newel, hand rail and treads.
