House. Late C16 timber framed and plastered, 2 storey farmhouse. Gabled peg
tile roof and slated lean-to at rear. In-line transitional plan of 4 bays, including
wide cross-passage/smoke bay, the hall, originally part-floored. The front
elevation has modern gabled, peg tile roofed open porch fronting the entrance
door in its original off-centre position. Windows are generally C19 wooden
casements with horizontal glazing bars. The C17 stack rebuilt above roof and
altered stack at S end. Remains of service door jambs and heads and diamond
mullioned window. Roof is side purlin with curved wind-bracing and halved and
bladed scarf joints in top plate. (RCHM 9).
