Parich Church. C14, C15, C18 and C19 with earlier origins. The walls are of flint
rubble intermixed with some free stone with clunch dressings. Roofs are gabled
and of peg tiles. The nave has on the W wall, 2 windows: the E is of 3 trefoiled
lights under 4-centred arch of early C15. The W is of 2 trefoiled lights under
a 2-centred head containing a quatrefoil and has a label with stops. Early C14
restored. Between is a C14 blocked N doorway with moulded jambs. 2-centred arch
and label. The S wall uniform with the N but E. of E window is a straight rood
stair of C15 with 4-centred headed doorways. The S porch C19 with knapped flint
dwarf wall, timber framing gabled peg tile roof and ornamental bargeboards. The
nave roof has 2 moulded crown posts with stout arched braces of probable C14
date and once extended further E and W. The W tower is of 3 stages with an
embattled parapet. The C15 tower arch has 2-centred heads and is of 2 chamfered
orders, the inner with moulded capitals and bases. The W windows is of 3 cinque-
foiled lights under a 4-centred head C15. The W doorway has a 2-centred head and
is of 2 chamfered orders. The second stage has in each of the N, S and W walls
a single window of 2 chamfered arches with a 2-centred head. The bell chamber has
in each wall, a window of 2 trefoiled lights under a 4-centred head with moulded
label. The corner buttresses are diagonally placed. The bell chamber floor is
C15 and complete. The chancel has in the E wall a C19 window. In the N wall are
C15 windows the E of 3 and the W of 2 cinquefoiled lights and reticulated tracery
under 4-centred heads. The S wall has 2 similar windows, restored and between a
C19 doorway. Chancel-arch and jambs are of 2 orders. The arch soffitt is grooved
for a timber rood. The roof of the chancel has C15 moulded wall plates, tie beam
with curved braces carried on stone, mutilated corbels. C19 pulpit with ornamental
handrail and matching reading desk. Bases of C18 stepped pews in nave with benches
and ends rebuilt in C19. (RCHM 1).
