Lobby-entrance house, early C17, timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade
red clay tiles. Aligned approx. NE-SW, aspect SE, with central chimney stack,
forming a lobby-entrance. Central rear wing, forming a T-plan, with extensions
on both sides, making up a rectangular plan. The extension in the N angle is a
lean-to, forming a catslide roof. In the W angle there is an extension with a
pitched roof parallel with the main block. 2 storeys. Ground floor, central
door of 4 flush panels with shallow bracketed hood, one window each side
(boarded over in June 1983). First floor, 3 C20 casement windows. Central
chimney stack has grouped diagonal shafts, rebuilt in the C19. There is some
weatherboarding on the NE and NW elevations. Edge-halved and bridled scarf
joints in wallplates of front range; this roof not accessible. Rear wing has
arched primary bracing in walls, curved queen struts and side purlins, without
collars.
