Large House, 1876, by R. Norman Shaw, now a sports club. Red brick, Flemish
bond, tiled roof. Square plan, entrance elevation to NE, garden elevation to
SE, service range to W. 2 storeys with attics. Entrance front has round-arched
doorway off-centre to the right, canopy above supported on carved brackets.
3 double-hung sash window of 4 lights to the right of the doorway. To left
of doorway a chimney stack and a canted bay window with casements. Garden
front has 3 gables. at ground floor are double-hung sash windows and to right a
bay window with balcony over. First floor has casement windows. Large coved
cornice at eaves. Hipped roof with bargeboards and weatherboarding. Dormers
and tall chimney stacks. Upper floor tile-hung.
