TQ 4696-4796 LAMBOURNE NEW FARM DRIVE,
7/12 New Farmhouse
12/1/83 II

House, late C17 with c19 alterations. Red brick, English bond, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. Aligned approx. NE-SW, aspect SE. Two storeys and
attic with cellar. Rusticated giant pilasters at ends and to centre bay of
front elevation, the centre bay breaking forward slightly and surmounted by C19
central gable with roughcast finish. Hipped mansard roof. Three bay front
elevation with segmentally headed window openings with sash windows with glazing
bars in brick reveals. Some crown glass. Central doorway with 4-panel door,
rectangular light over with geometrical tracery, architrave and cornice on
brackets. Over each end bay, an original segmentally headed dormer with sash
window with glazing bars. In rear elevation, one segmentally headed two-light
dormer and two massive lateral brick stacks, the SW one with corbelled capital
and stringcourse. Rear lean-to of one storey and attic with slate roof; brick
ground floor and partly weatherboarded upper floor. C19 NE two storey range,
timber framed and weatherboarded with brick ground floor and pantile roof.
Inside, C18 or earlier staircase with turned balusters and doors with original
furniture. Date 1744 recorded in 1952 schedule not now apparent.
