Barn. C16, partially converted to studio by the artist Aida Palmer in
the late C19 in art & Craft style;rest of building converted to
dwelling in C20. Timber- framed with rendered panels on brick plinth
with plain tile roof. Three-bay frame with midstrey -flanked by lean-to
additions. Central stack. Half-hipped roof. Principal frame members
exposed on exterior. Jowled posts with arch braces. C20 two- light
casements throughout, some with recent fake leading. End bay of
garden front has oriel window above recent herringbone brick nogged
panels in place of a conservatory which has been removed. The interior
has an inserted floor. The galleried full-height studio occupies one
bay and has high quality timber detailing. Diagonal boarding to walls
and ceiling." Screens passage" of the three bays with four-centred
openings with carved spandrels and painted landscape panels above.
Bracketted gallery with carved rail and chamfered balusters. Carved
rail above entrance to the former conservatory the trefoil posts with
moulded capitals. Ovolo-moulded four-centred-brick fireplace:The
artist Aida Palmer who exhibited from 1884 lived at the next door
house, Turnours Hall
