TL 81 SE GREAT BRAXTED TIPTREE ROAD

Cottage. C17/C18 with C19 alterations. One of the cottages used by Peter Du
Cane when he moved villagers from Braxted Park to Bung Row circa 1825/31 to
enclose Braxted Park. Timber framed and plastered. Red plain tiled roof with 2
gabled dormers. Left and right red brick chimney stacks. One storey and attics
and cellar. 2 window range of C19 type casements with central glazing bars.
Central gabled red tiled open porch. Board door. The interior features include
heavy chamfered bridging joists, vertically boarded doors with original
ironmongery. Reputed inglenook fireplace now boarded in. Well in cellar.
