Cottage. C17/C19 with C19 later alterations and additions at rear. One of the
cottages used by Peter Du Cane when he moved villagers from Braxted Park to Bung
Row circa 1825/31 to enclose the Park. Timber framed, red brick front face with
dentilled eaves cornice. Plastered return walls. Red plain tiled gambrel roof.
Left and right red brick chimney stacks. 2 gabled dormers. One storey and
attics. Two 2-light small paned casements. Central part glazed gabled porch.
Board door with 2 lights. Contains many C18 features including 2 rear staircases
with centre newels. All doors of beaded vertical boarding with wrought iron
hinges and catches. Rear rooms with klompjie brick floors.
