4/129 Honeywood School

Small school. Circa 1857. Red brick. Red plain tiled roof. Bargeboards to
return gables. Gault brick angle pilasters and gault dressings to left return
porch. Single storey. Three 3 light windows each with chamfered mullions and 2
transoms, the top panels trefoiled, centre square lead and lower plain glazed.
Square label over. The left return porch with dentilled cornice and flat
canopy. Plank and muntin door with ornate iron hinges. Above the porch is a
large stone panel with central coat of arms. Motto: Omne Bonum Desurer, and top
corners inscribed W.P.H. 1857, referring to the donor W. Honeywood of Marks
Hall, Coggeshall who also donated the sum of £2,500 towards the cost of
restoring the parish church.
