TL 81 SE LITTLE TOTHAM THE STREET

Cottage. C18. Timber framed and weatherboarded. Red plain tiled double range
gambrel roof with one flat headed dormer. Right red brick chimney stack. One
storey and attics with attached single storey outbuildings to right and rear.
1:1 window range of diamond leaded casements. Open red tiled porch with C20
half glazed door to left. Original board and muntin doors with handwrought
ironmongery, chamfered bridging joists and exposed ceiling beams. At one time a
shop. The C19 shop window to left return rear. Deeds in the owners possession
relate to a fine for building without permission on Tiptree Heath. Apologies
were made and the fine remitted. The cottage is attractive and occupies a
prominent position in the village.
