6/18 Grove Farmhouse

House. C15/C16 with C18 and later alterations and additions. Timber framed and
plastered. Brick plinth. Red plain tiled roof. External left and forward
central chimney stacks. 2 storeys. 3 window range of small paned vertically
sliding sashes. Central panelled door with top light, moulded surround, flat
canopy on brackets. Formerly of 2 separate builds, the left possibly earlier
crosswing with heavy arched braces to tie beams. The right range of one bay
with crosswing to right, this was formerly jettied and has moulded bridging and
ceiling joists showing the line of the jetty. Other features include jowled
storey posts and a very heavy storey post at rear, inserted restored chimney
stack, mullion window, C18/C19 cast iron basket grate.
