6/56 No. 59 Anchor Cottage
(Formerly Rose Cottage )


Cottage. C16/C17 or earlier with later alterations and additions. Timber
framed and weatherboarded. Red plain tiled roof. Plaster chimney stack to left
of right range. One storey and attics. Gable to left. Dormer to right range.
1:1 window range of vari-light casements. Moulded surround to central doorway.
Part glazed door with glazed margins. At one time The Anchor Public House and
documented as The Anchor circa 1820. The property is reputed to have clay lump
infill between the wall studs.
