TM 02 NE ARDLEIGH BROMLEY ROAD

Barn. Late C18 of older origin. Timber framed and weatherboarded, red brick
plinth. Red pantiled roof. Originally of 10 bays with 2 gabled midstreys, one
midstrey was later demolished but the rear doors and front opening remain and 4
bays were added to the south, making,an exceptionally long C19 barn of 14 bays.
To the left (north) of the midstrey is a small engine house and 4 bay cartlodge
in place of the demolished midstrey. Through bracing to walls, hanging knees to
tie beams, side purlin ridge board roof. One of the south bays is a stable with
loft over. Brick and concrete floors. There are later right and left forward
ranges with red pantiled roofs, part brick and part weatherboarded which formed
