House. C17. Timber framed and rough rendered. Red plain tiled roof. Barge
boards to return gables. Central chimney stack. 2 storeys. 2 window range of
2 light small paned casements. Central plank and muntin door, moulded surround,
label over. Rear outshot. 2 bays and chimney bay. Original stack with C20
fire surrounds. Inserted ceiling with stop chamfered bridging joists, square
section ceiling beams, jowled storey posts Supposedly the,original Meeting
House of the Methodists. It was occupied in 1796 by Thomas Went, farmer. F.H.
Erith "Ardleigh in 1796", 1978.
