TL 61 NW HIGH EASTER

Farmhouse. C.1300 and late C16. Timber framed and plastered with peg tile
roofs and all of 2 storeys. Composed of a formerly jettied crosswing to the
west, and a larger parallel C16 gabled range to the west, joined by a short
linking block. Out of this projects a C17 stack with 3 connected diagonal
shafts. A similar stack of 2 shafts is placed against the east flank. Windows
are C20 metal casements with small panes. Old crosswing has very thick arch
braces on ground and first floors, central tennoned floor joists, cambered tie
beam and short stop chamfered crown post with 4 way bracing. Late C16 block has
chamfered spine beams and side purlin, wind braced roof reusing soot blackened
rafters from earlier hall. Main stack has brick pointed arched inglenook.
