Timber-framed and plastered building built circa 1500, with a cross wing at
the west end. A C19 flint and brick building which adjoins the east end now
forms part of the inn premises. The original part is plastered in panels on
the front, with a band of ornamental plasterwork extending across the front
between the storeys. Two storeys. Three window range, casements with glazing
bars. The ground storey has 3 small bays with tiled roofs. There are 3 gables
at the rear. Roof tiled, with an original chimney stack with 2 octagonal shafts.
The interior has a plaster fire surround of circa 1500. The C19 addition at
the east end is of flint with red brick quoins and dressings, 2 storeys, of
higher storey height than the original inn. Three window range, casements.
Roof slate with a brick dentilled eaves cornice. (RCHM 11).
