House, C14 and C16. Timber framed and plastered with red plain tile roof. 2 storeys
and cellars. Gabled and jettied crosswings at left and right. 4 window range
C17, C19 and C20 casements. Mid C16 red brick chimney stack, with early C17 attached
diagonal shafts. Internally the frame survives with jowled storey posts, cambered
tie beams and crown post roofs. 2 original fireplaces with brick arches. C16 post
and plank screens. C16 staircase tower with original newel stair in situ. C16
windows with moulded mullions and numerous C16 and C17 doors. Some late C16 floral
wall painting in right hand wing. 2 single storey rear wings, one with C16 or
earlier kitchen, incorporating remains of original timber chimney and queen post
roof. Linked to main house by 1 bay of late C18 infill. Adjacent is late C17 or
early C18 wing with original large corner cupboard. (RCHM4).
