Late C14 house with cross-wing at west end, altered in late C16 and early C19.
Timber framed and plastered with C19 grey gault brick facade, and grey slate roof.
2 storeys. Cross-wing is gabled and jettied. 1,3 window range, modern casements and
C19 double hung vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars. C17, C15 and modern
extensions at rear. Internally the C14 cross-wing frame is virtually intact, with
stop chamfered beams, steeply cambered tie beams, spandrel brackets, and cross-wing
post roof. Main range largely rebuilt in late C16, with jowled storey posts, and side
purlin roof reusing sooted rafters from the original open hall. Some C17 and C18
doors, and reused C17 balusters and handrail to staircase. Red brick chimney stacks.
