Church of St
Church. 1904. Designed by Walter J Tapper. Yellow stock brick; pitched tiled
roof. 4 bay nave,with north aisle, 2 bay chancel with canted east end.
Gothic revival manner.Entrance to south-west in pointed arched doorway. Lancets
to body of church, high in wall. Spired stone capped stair turrets flanking
west end which has large traceried oculus.Slab-like buttresses to apse,
rising above parapet. Triple lancets to east end. Copper flche above chancel
arch. Broad, tall interior with slab-like internal buttresses rising into
giant arches, pierced with pointed arches to lower part. Pointed arches to
north aisle. Western baptistry separated from nave by triple arcade with clustered
columns. Barrel ceiling with transverse arches and decorative plasterwork.
