Barn and attached shelter shed: mid C19 barn, late C19 shed; barn
Sussex bond brickwork on low stone plinth, slate roof, shed brick
with tiled roof. Central threshing floor. Yard elevation wide
double doors, cambered brick arch, stone keystone; stone blocks in
jambs each side for hinges. Either side of doors 3 rows of
diamond-shaped air vents; gables 12 similar air vents. Dentil
eaves, low-pitch roof. Internally; stone-paved threshing floor,
brick flooring to bays each side. 5-bay roof, king-post roof
trusses, centre bay narrower than barn doors. At right-angles at
back a later shelter-shed for yard cattle, open front with timber
posts on stone bases, 4-bay, tie-beam trusses with angle struts and
iron-rod king-post: tie-beam set below wallplate. Tiles to roof on
boarding. A well preserved building of some architectural
pretension.
