SO 72 NW NEWENT -

3/59 Common Fields Farmhouse

Farmhouse; early C19; Flemish bond brickwork, tiled roof. Three
windows wide, 3 storeys. 'L' plan, rear wing 2 storeys only.
Openings symmetrically arranged but set slightly off-centre to
left. Six-panel front door, top glazed, centre fielded, bottom
flush; panelled reveals, moulded surround, flat, projecting porch
roof with moulded edge. Either side a tripartite sash window,
Tuscan pilasters to weight boxes, dentils to top; flat rubbed brick
arch over, stone keystone. Below left window cambered brick arch
over cellar doorway, down external steps. First floor ends as
below, narrower blind opening centre with similar head. Second
floor as first, but windows shallower, casement, not sash. Boarded
eaves to front, dentil to rear: hipped roof, lead hips. Chimney to
left return projects slightly: that on right cut down below eaves.
