Barn. Probably mid-late C18. Flemish bond brickwork, tiled
roof. Five-bay building, unlofted. Facade facing house: double
boarded doors to left of centre, timber door posts, cambered timber
head set just below wallplate: small access door in left main
door. Plain brick plinth: one bay to left, 3 slit air vents
below, 2 rows of 2 above. To right, timber-framed lean-to not of
special interest. Barn wall 3 rows of 6 slit air vents, centre
set half spacing to right: at right end boarded door with cambered
brick arch, further slit beyond. Above door square opening with
patterned brick grill, cambered brick arch over, and small cross-
shaped vent. Left return brick, diamond-shaped owl-hole in apex:
plain bargeboards.
Interior: stone-paved threshing floor; 3 bays brick paved to
right. Rear wall wide, low doorway to threshing floor, drop to
ground beyond: slit air vents run through full length of wall.
Trusses tie-beam, collar, angle struts; 2 pairs butt purlins,
plank ridge. Barn probably originally larger to left, gable
vertical joints to side walls on inside only. No evidence of
different use for right-hand bay internally, to account for changed
treatment of wall facing house.
