5/10 Hartland monument, in the church-
yard, about 4.5m south-east of south
east corner of chancel, Church of
St. Mary

GV II

Chest tomb: R. Hartland, died 1803. Stone. Flat lid, moulded
edge, fluted frieze with paterae; quarter-rectangular corner
balusters, fluted stems, gadrooned below. Ends and south face
simply moulded frame to rectangular panel, north face fluted edge
moulding with guilloche and egg and dart. Moulded plinth. Some
Gothic lettering. Inscri.ptions also to wife, died 1819. Same
design as Tibbatt and Hill monuments (q.v.).
