4/79 Little Iddens


Small house. C17, C18, minor C19 alteration. Brick-nogged timber
framing on stone plinth, painted English garden wall bond brick
extension, tiled roof. Three-bay, one room deep, 2-storey; single-
storey extension. Garden front: end of rebuilt brick gable on
right, ground floor framing covered by boards: to left external
lateral brick chimney, tiled offset. To left 2-light casement,
iron opening light, weatherboard over. Trellis porch, lean-to
metal roof, covering boarded door with 2 glass panes up one stone
step. Three-light casement on left, iron opening light,
weatherboard over. Extension beyond: 2-light casement, iron
opening light, cambered brick arch on right, 2-light late C20
casement on left replacing door. Gable chimney. First floor, 2-
light casement on right, iron opening light: late C20 two-light
casement to left of chimney: 3-light casement on left, iron
opening light. Some studs at left end painted on brickwork.
External gable chimney on left. Originally 3-panels high, eaves
later raised. Home of Robert Frost, 1914-15, one of the Dymock
poets, associated with L. Abercrombie, R. Brooke, W. Gibson and E.
