Farmhouse, C17, early C18, altered mid C20. Rear wing Flemish-bond
brickwork ground floor, brick-nogged timber-framing above, stone
slate roof; front Flemish-bond brickwork on stone plinth, tiled
roof. 'L' plan; 3-bay, 2½ storey back, one room deep; 3-window,
2-storey front: angle later infilled. Garden elevation, end of
brick front on right. Ground floor: main posts continue through,
framing between replaced brickwork with weatherboard over. Four-
light, cyma-moulded casements each side, iron opening lights;
narrower centre bay, boarded door, rectangular 4-pane fanlight,
under hipped porch, on timber front posts. To left cambered head to
cellar window. To right, in brick end of front, 6-panel door, all
flush, up one stone step, under swept hipped lead roof to open
porch, on iron rods set in large tapered stone bases. First floor:
framing 2 panels high, angle braces main posts to wallplate in end
bays: 4-light casement on left, 2-light blocked; 3-light centre,
4-light casement on right, all with iron opening lights. No
opening in brick end on right. Two gabled dormers, 2-light
casements to timber-framed section; external chimney left gable:
dentil eaves to brick front, hipped roof, large brick chimney on
ridge just to right of original building. Wide hollow chamfers to
beams in left and right rooms in 3-bay rear wing. Timber-framed
house, enlarged with early C18 wing at right angles on right end to
become new front.
