4/92 Barn, Great Netherton

GV II

Barn. 1809 for H H D (datestone). English garden wall bond, stone
plinth,. double Roman tiles. Three-bay barn. Facade to yard:
double boarded doors to threshing floor, up a little from the yard,
left door in 2 halves, cambered brick arch, heavy timber frame.
Either side cambered brick arch to large opening, infilled brick
grille. Dentil eaves. Right return 2 similar openings infilled
with brick grilles, boarded door to pitch hole in gable, cambered
brick arch over; above in apex oval stone owlhole. Datestone
similar owlhole at opposite end.
Interior: slight internal buttresses either side of doors. Low
brick sill wall on left of threshing floor, timber top, that on
right removed. Five bay roof, king post trusses, tapered
principals, 2 pairs purlins, plank ridge. Forms group with house
(q.v.).
