C16 or early C17 altered mid C19 and modernised. Picturesque rubble built cottage
set back from street and approached by an alleyway (ture) which passes below its
east end and continues to back walls. Two storeys. Cotswold stone roof, plain
chimneys.
Three small 2-light casements on first floor, 4 windows and 2 doors, irregular, on
ground floor (modern). Alley to right ceiled with old timbers.
Gabled L-plan extension to north extends as coach-house to Woolcomber (q.v.).
Interior: lobby entrance, massive chimney with stair attached; one timber framed
exposed partition. Roof with stout coupled rafters, one truss with curved collar;
2 levels of purlins.
The ture walls link this house with Southayes Cottage to north: rubble varying
between 6 and 9 ft.
