GV II
Flats, former farmhouse. 1840 for John Arkell (datestone), altered
late C20. Flemish bond brickwork, slate roof. Three-bay front, 3
storeys, probably 3 rooms deep, lower wing behind. Ashlar plinth;
rubbed brick arches to all windows. Central 6-panel door, top 4
glazed, up one stone step, rectangular light over with marginal
lights, all under single-storey, flat roofed porch, 2 stone Doric
columns with matching pilasters, frieze, projecting moulded
cornice, plain blocking course over. Either side a 16-pane sash.
Plain string course above, running into porch. First floor 16-pane
sash each side, 12-pane centre; second floor windows as first but
shallower; wide eaves with plain string course just below; hipped
roof, chimney from eaves on left, 2 from ridge on right. Forms
group with church.
