SP 13 NE 1/141 BLOCKLEY NORTHWICK PARK

Fountain Below and
to North-East of
Upper Water

II

Circa 1900, cast-iron in shallow circular stone basin. The fountain is designed in
the style of the Belle Epoque (just possibly 3rd Empire) and could be French.
Cast-iron probably or bronze: a shallow basin fed by entwined dolphins whose tails
support a further basin; bulbous acanthus stem; octagonal plinth with putti riding
dolphins and blowing conches on projecting buttresses; lion's masks in subsidiary
faces.
