Row of 2 cottages. No 1, left, C17 with C18/19 outbuildings rear
left. No 2, right, added late C17/early C18 with C20 extension on
lower level, right. Coursed squared and dressed limestone. No 1
has a 2 course plinth with chamfered top. Limestone slate roof.
Artificial stone roof to C20 extension. Single ashlar chimneys
from former right gable ends, from eaves left, and from right gable
end, all with moulded tops and skirtings. C18/19 outbuildings,
rear left, coursed squared limestone with artificial stone roof.
Small limestone rubble building with limestone slate roof offset
left of rear extension. Main body both 2 storeys; No 1: principal
gable left with window to first floor. 2 and 3-light, flat
chamfered stone-mullioned windows, with stopped hoods and glazing
bars. 2 stone steps up to unpainted C17/18 door with strap
hinges. Door and window to left, under one hood. No 2: 2
storeys. One windowed. Flat-chamfered, stone-mullioned windows,
some glazing bars, some leaded lights. Extension has C20 2 and 3
light stone-mullioned windows with stopped hoods and glazing bars.
Front door, left, up 3 steps. Unpainted, studded C20 door with
flat, stone lintel. Prince Rupert reputed to have hidden in No 1.
