SP 1643-1743 MICKLETON CHURCH LANE

12/87 Monument to Grove Family in
the churchyard to south of
Church of St. Lawrence

II

Chest tomb. Approximately lm east of south porch. Early C19. For
Piercy Grove died 1784 and later members of the same family.
Limestone with moulded capping stone and plinth. Foliate quarter
pilasters framing 4 memorial inscriptions, one on each side, with
foliate decoration in corners. Limestone verge with C18 style iron
railing and 6 vase finials. Finest of a group of similar but later
tombs on S side of churchyard.
