SO 91 NE COLESBOURNE -
1/23 The Round House
Stands on boundary between Colesbourne CP and Withington CP.
Former toll house, now house. Early C19. Random tufa limestone;
Welsh slate roof; red brick chimney; garden store has random
rubble limestone with stone slate roof. 2-storey with single
ground floor room; octagonal end facing road; gable end chimney,
single storey one-room part behind; attached store. Scattered
fenestration: 3 small Gothick windows, one in each face at road
end, to ground floor; plank door with 6-pane horizontal sliding
sash to right; 2 small-paned timber casements to upper floor.
Roof hipped at road end. Built to receive tolls from users of the
private road from Colesbourne to Seven Springs in Coberly CP.
Road principally constructed for the private use of the Elwes
