Detached farmhouse. C17 with early C18 addition and C19 wing.
Random rubble limestone; ashlar window and door dressings; 1 ashlar
chimney with moulded cap; 2 red brick chimneys; stone slate roof.
C17 house of 2 storeys with attic; C18 2-storey added to north
east, and C19 wing added to north west to form L-plan is single
storey with attic; single-storey hipped lean-to at north end. C17
south east front: single window fenestration with 2-light recessed
chamfered mullioned in attic gable with 2-light below, and 3-light
to ground floor, all with hood moulds; cross roll saddle to gable
with stone finial; ashlar chimney stack at ridge of north east
gable; C18 addition below has single window fenestration with
chamfered mullioned 2-light without hood above small 2-light with
very thick monolithic surround possibly reused from medieval
building (c.f. identical window in south face of Syde church tower,
q.v.). Single window added to each floor in north east gable end
in C20, both timber casements with timber lintels; small slit
window at back of this wing with stone lintel. North east front of
C19 has 2-window fenestration with deep stone lintel to central
doorway, chamfered jambs and timber plank door; C18 2-light to left
must be reused; casement in segmental arch to right and 2 attic
casements, each in small gable with timber lintels. Scattered
fenestration to south west side of C19 wing, mainly casements; some
late C20 alterations; doorway with flat timber hood on brackets and
having plank door is roughly central. C17 house is probably
remaining half of more substantial building.
