Hugh Perry Almshouses

II

Almshouses. Part 1638 (dated) part 1712. Exposed rubble over dressed stone plinth,
stone slate roof. Three wings round courtyard, street front six 'Cotswold' gables,
and corresponding gables to courtyard, otherwise plain roofs. Two storey, six bays to
street; two-light windows in stone with hollow chamfered mullions, leaded glazing;
square hoods and labels. Central doorway in stone flat elliptical arch with panel and
inscription over. Old wide plank door with vertical cover mouldings. Two light
windows in wood, stone cills, leaded rectangular lights to courtyard; wood glazed
doors some (in 1638 block) in chamfered wood surrounds with flat Tudor arched lintels.
Central hexagonal wood cupola, lead covering, central over main block.
