Wortley House

II*

Large detached house. Early C18. Rendered overall, stone slate roofs. Parallel
ranges, hipped roofs with central valley, modillion cornice to main facade, otherwise
plan fascia board; large lateral rendered stacks. Three storeys, five windowed -
grouped two plus three - sashes with glazing bars in moulded surrounds and bull-nose
cills. Late C18 door surround half columns, pediment breaks into cill above, good
panelled door. Back facade contains very large venetian window with rectangular small
panes of old glass in leading.
Interior: principal stair with twisted balusters, square newels, in three flights,
carried across venetian window. Ground floor rooms delicate dado rail and trim,
panelled and moulded C18 and early C19, doors.
