ST 89 NE AVENING -

3/4 Barn at Brandhouse Farm

Large barn with lean-to on either side, 3-storey projecting gable
on south side and single storey extension to east. Early C17.
Rubble stone with quoins, Cotswold stone slate roof and some
corrugated iron roofing. Main barn has large full width opening on
west side, 6 bays, with tie beam only for first 3 then collar and
tie beam for remaining 2 trusses, resting on interrupted wall
plate. Slit ventilation on both sides blocked by flanking lean-to
structures. Tall gabled projection at south east corner has small
single light in gable with 3-light wooden mullion window below and
blocked entry at base. Wing to east has a low wide entrance and
small window on south side. Many blocked openings along north side
including a high level double opening with stone sill on lean-to.
